Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a subsidiary of that provides a wide set of infrastructure services that are trusted by over one million customers. AWS is a global leader in compute power, database storage, and content delivery. Their products are leveraged to build reliable, scalable, and sophisticated web applications.


In 2017, AWS cloud strategists had the opportunity to enter six new markets for the first time. Prior to connecting with us, there were tax restrictions that limited them to having processes in certain states. Once these restrictions were lifted, they needed to create brand awareness in areas that didn’t have AWS cloud strategists. To do this, they had to break into the markets and show target companies what they had to offer. But they didn’t want to host just any networking event, they wanted to give their audience a unique experience.

Market research was our first step. We researched local companies in each market and found that many tend to host events at the same, well-known places. We didn’t want to build a stale event series with a seminar-type feeling. We wanted to plan and host unique, engaging events that intermingled people in both technical and non-technical roles, ranging from developers all the way to c-level executives. So with a lot of enthusiasm and thorough event management, we helped AWS plan and execute six exclusive events for their hot list of target companies within the new markets.

For each market, we wanted attendees to have an amazing experience and to be tourists in their own cities. We found fun and interesting places to host the events, like a science museum in Des Moines, a distilling company in Kansas City, a hotel that offers old-time mixology courses in New Orleans, and more. For the event series, we created a custom logo, email banners and content, a multi-email journey, event signage, and computer stickers.

IT, finance, and marketing professionals in each market had a chance to meet one-on-one with technical experts, hear from resourceful panels of AWS existing customers, and network with other influential business leaders. Attendees eagerly engaged with AWS cloud strategists, enjoyed the branded stickers and event agendas, and noted value in the networking opportunities. AWS exceeded attendance goals for all six events and generated warm leads in each new market to follow-up with in the future.
